Introduce archery to your students!
In partnership with the Missouri Department of Conservation, Newspapers in Education is exploring archery. Nearly everyone can succeed at archery, regardless of age, size or physical ability. Studies show that archery programs:
- Increase self-esteem
- Encourage physical activity
- Get kids outside!
- Can become an after-school activity

Lesson 1 - Vocabulary
Introduce students to archery with key terms they need to know to participate in the sport. Use this lesson to lay the foundation that students need in order to learn focus, discipline and more when exploring archery.
Lesson 2 - Parts of a Bow
The compound bow can look complicated at first, but in reality it is just a system of levers and pulleys working together! In this activity, students will study and identify the parts of a compound bow in order to accurately and safely navigate the bow.
