The St. Louis Post-Dispatch NIE program has been delivering newspapers to classrooms throughout the bi-state metro area for more than 20 years. This invaluable and highly effective program encourages use of the daily newspaper in classroom settings as a virtual textbook for learning, helping students develop necessary academic and life skills; from reading and writing to math, geography and science, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.

As a tool of instruction, the newspaper can strengthen teaching in every content area. Participating in NIE can help teachers broaden students’ learning sphere – making tomorrow’s lessons out of today’s text.
